Name: persephone Age: immortal Gender: female Easydeity-or-Normal: lesser god
Personality: Persephone happens to be a very stubborn creature. when she knows she doesn't wish to do something she will most certainly not do it. plus it's hard forcing her to complete these tasks. she has a very strong will and very forced opinion on things. this mare can also be very snappy and short tempered at times, but generally remains relatively calm. she can be pretty cruel and unforgiving, as well as being loving. being the queen of the underworld several obvious points can be placed about her personality, but those close to her often see her softer, gentler side. she can be a bit of a flirt at times, and a seductress when she wants. she doesn't mind punishing others and isn't exactly scared of those around her. after all, she always has the king of the underworld there to protect her. Likes: - company - beautiful views - freedom - the time she gets to spend with her mother - hades Dislikes: - being locked away from the world - not being respected - the season of winter Fears: - being trapped in the underworld once more, forever - watching her mother live in pain, much like the time when she disappeared Hopes: - that she, Demeter (her mother) and hades can all live in peace together, with the two learning properly how to share her Dreams: - to one day be completely content with her life
Appearance: Persephone is often described as a beautiful horse, everyone loved her for her beauty. she has a pretty palomino coat, some of it ranging from darker shades to lighter shades of that color. her mane and tail are of flaxen color, and are quite long in length.her markings consist of a white blaze on her forehead, which runs into a black muzzle and a white sock on her back left leg. the mare also has slate grey hooves. her eyes are a dark color, but have a hint of amber in them, making them appear a mixture of both amber and brown but generally hold a natural sparkle to them. Persephone is shaped elegantly with long, slender legs and curves in all the right places. she is indeed eye candy. the mares height stretches up to about sixteen hands high and her blood is more or less a mixture of thoroughbred, arabian and paso fino. all this about her draws stallions to her appearance. from her soft, curved muzzle to her nicely pointed grey hooves Persephone is the incarnation of beauty.
Family connections: demeter [mother] and zeus [father] History: Persephone was born to both Demeter and Zeus. unlike all the other offspring of an Olympic god, she had no stable position in Olympus. she lived with her mother, a goddess within nature itself. many gods had tried to 'woo' her these being, Hermes, Ares, Apollo and Hephaestus but her mother had sent them all away. so Persephone lived a happy and peaceful life until she caught Hades eye.
because of her beauty Hades wanted her himself. after asking Zeus and getting no reply as he neither wanted to upset Hades or Demeter, the god of the underworld abducted the young mare. this happened one day when she was out enjoying the view, alone as per usual. Hades burst through a crack in the earth and took her to the underworld, where he was soon to imprison her. the only two individuals to see what happened where Zeus and the all seeing sun, Helios. Demeter was of course distraught at the news of her daughter and searched everywhere for her daughter. when she met Helios, he told her what happened and, being so angry, she isolated herself from the world and everything around her. No plants or trees grew and the vegetation died.
eventually, knowing this could not go on Zeus sent Hermes down to the underworld to set Persephone free, saying that if she had not eaten any food she was free to go. Hades grudgingly let her go, knowing that she had not eaten while in the underworld as she had refused to do this. Persephone happily went back to her mother and with Demeter's happiness the plants and vegetation grew once again. but then Hades gardener arrived and claimed that Persephone had sucked on six pomegranate seeds. both mother and daughter objected to this but it was decided that Persephone would spend a month in the underworld for each seed she had. so now, she spends six months with her mother in the times of spring and summer while in autumn and winter she must go down to the underworld and spend the time with Hades. in this time Demeter doesn't allow anything to grow, and so the seasons in the world developed.
